CREATIVE RETIREMENT
GREAT DECISIONS II

Gore: Climate Bill Will Help Bring About 'Global Governance'...
Constitution gives some credence to foreign treaty trumping federal/state laws.
Yet a treaty cannot overrule the constitution which authorized treaties in the first place.
Fodder for international lawyers and weak domestic politicians
Demands Rise for Publicly Funded Burials.
Remember it was me who first said, "I want the government to provide me with a car",
which you recognized as silly. Yet they did it only weeks later.
Drop in world temperatures fuels global warming debate ...
You heard it here first. We should have conservation (a'la Teddy Roosevelt) and reserve new expenses for
research into less expensive replacements. Then we can adopt green because it is cheaper and not just
a politically-correct expense. Forget carbon trading, spend that money on something worthwhile.
Contraception is the cheapest way to combat climate change.
And just about every other ill of mankind.
Governments screw up everything they try. A $1B auto giveaway immediately ballooned to $3B
and accomplished almost nothing but to raise new car prices on us and used car prices for poor people;
and create a generation that buys Toyota and Nissan instead of Chevy and Plymouth.
Estimated 37 percent increase in co-op electric bills in Iowa
Obama Admin: Cap And Trade Could Cost Families $1,761 A Year...
Selling rights to pollute are as valid as selling indulgences.
Homeless use of motels still on rise.
A bigger safety net in good times becomes an enormous expense when employment declines.
Look for upcoming pity selections from news headlines about the pet peeves I rant upon from time to time :
Press, Education, Government, Law, Illegals, Legislation, Responsibility, violations to economics,
to mankind's nature, and to the nature of the earth, of science, et al.
Maybe even find some sensible solutions.
Unchecked population growth is speeding climate change, damaging life-nurturing ecosystems and dooming many countries to poverty.
Do we need a war, famine, pestilence? Good sense, responsibility and economics don't seem to work.
Canada's National Newspaper calls for Worldwide One Child Policy.
China says population controls help fight climate change.
Essay
Can civilizations self destruct by the very civilization? It
has been postulated that Roman fell because of the introduction of lead water pipes.
There has been a rash of new diseases in the last century -- cancer, alhimers, autism.
Global warming, water scarcity. We gradually find the answers. Cancer from smoking is
pretty well know, but pollution in general is a concern and food additives are a form of
pollution. Autism has been directly correlated with the number of fillings in the teeth
of mothers -- the reason for this statistic is concern with mercury in amalgams. Mercury
is also a very effective bacteria killer and is used as a preservative in vaccines, but it
also kills certain parts of brain chemistry and alone can create the symptoms of
Alzheimer. I had been inclined to blame radiation from the thousands of radio frequencies, TV
channels, radar, X-rays, power lines, et al that constantly pass through our bodies -- an
electro-chemical machine-- that did not exist until a century ago when "new" diseases
started.
On a world scale I worry about pollution and conservation. Mankind has
always harnessed nature to his needs, now that population has grown such as to be a
hazard to the very planet in which man has developed. Carbon as a pollutant is growing, I worry about lungs, some
worry about it creating global warming. I don't ; man's contribution is too small
compared to the glacial cycles and we are now simply ending a cold spell. Destruction of
trees and fish is a concern. Waste of fresh water is a potent, potential problem.
Solution -- taking responsibility for conservation and pollution. Who determines
what is responsible behavior? The fact is -- governments. But, much of government is a blight
on mankind swayed by personal interests. The proper answer is unknown -- at least to me.
Contraception seems a proper place to start.
